Freedom
Independence Day was born on July 4, 1776, when the original thirteen colonies officially adopted the Declaration of Independence and thus claimed their independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain (known today as the United Kingdom). This national holiday commemorates the bravery and the ideals of the fifty-six men who signed the Declaration and celebrates our nation's hard-earned independence and freedom.
