Pumpkin Chunkin Palooza Festival & 5K Fun Run

The Lake of the Ozarks is famous for being a great summer attraction, but the Lake Area offers several great attractions for local families in the fall as well. This week, your friends at the Law Offices of Phillips, McElyea, Carpenter, & Welch, P.C. are here to provide you with the details for a brand new event in the Lake Area: Rotary's Pumkin Chunkin' Palooza! This exciting event promises to be a fun-filled afternoon that you won't want to miss.

Pumkin Contests
There will be a "Largest Pumpkin" contest with a cash prize of $1.00 per pound for the heaviest pumpkin (all paid entrees are eligible to win). There will also be a "Best Decorated Pumpkin" contest.

Kid-Friendly Activities
Feel free to bring the kiddos along - there will be plenty of fun activities to keep them entertained! This event features corn pits, bounce houses, various games, pony rides, hay rides, face painting, and countless different games.

Adult-Friendly Activities
Don't worry; there are plenty of attractions to keep the adults entertained, too. There will be several booths featuring Missouri artisans and crafters, as well as special booths highlighting Missouri micro brews and Missouri wines. There will also be live music throughout the day provided by The Norman Jackson Band and The M-80's.

Special Attraction
The event is holding true to its name; the Ozarks Amphitheater will hurl giant pumpkins through the air every hour in true "pumkin chunkin" style. Their crew has constructed a genuine trebuchet specially for this event. The launches will be punctuated with a pipe and drum band for added dramatic effect.

Why not kick the festivities off a little early? Come out in the morning to participate in the 5K Fun Run. The 5K route will run from Ozarks Amphitheater to Bridal Cave and back. There will also be a kids' 2K run that only goes to Bridal Cave. Prizes will be awarded for the best kid's costume, best adult's costume, and the best group costume. The entry fee covers an event t-shirt, runners' number bib, and admission into the Pumkin Chunkin festival.

Great Fun For A Great Cause

The 5K and the festival are hosted by the four local Rotary chapters and sponsored by several great local organizations and businesses: Above & Beyond Roofing, Smith Moore, Ozarks Amphitheater, First National Bank, MPix, Central Bank of Lake of the Ozarks, Woods Supermarket, US Bank, Pro Pest Control, ITW, Pro Power Washing, B&B Heating and Cooling, and Pirate's Point.

Event proceeds will benefit several local organizations, including Kids' Harbor, Westlake Aquatic Center, Lake Area Food Pantries, and Lake Regional Hospital. As active members in the Lake Ozark Daybreak Rotary Club and Camdenton Rotary Club, we are thrilled to support this great event and excited to see all that it holds in store.
